Okaloosa County Administration Building

Shalimar, Florida
This new centralized office building has allowed County departments to consolidate operations and improve efficiency.

This new 63,500 SF administrative office building replaces the outdated Courthouse Annex complex in Shalimar.  Initially, DAG and design-build partner Lord & Son were hired by the County to renovate the Annex to bring it up to current code compliance and improve security.  However, after a detailed evaluation and programming phase, it was determined to be more cost-effective to replace the old building with a new one that meets the current requirements of the County’s staff.  The new three-story building will allow this Northwest Florida county to consolidate their administrative departments, previously located in leased facilities that cost the County nearly $1 million each year in rent.

New offices, conference rooms, and support spaces are provided for the County Commissioners and the County Manager, including a new board chamber that accommodates more people and has the latest technology.  County departments such as the Tax Collector, the Property Appraiser, the Supervisor of Elections, Growth Management, Information Systems, Veterans Services, and the Guardian ad Litem also have offices located here.
