FSU Primary Care and Behavioral Health Center
Tallahassee, Florida

The new FSU Primary Health Center is being constructed off-campus at Roberts Avenue and Eisenhower Street in southwest Tallahassee and will provide a range of primary-care services not currently available in that area. The clinic will be served primarily by the FSU College of Medicine faculty members which will provide them with the opportunity to maintain their practice skills, get valuable interaction with patients and their families, as well as teach and mentor both medical and PA students in a clinical setting.

The building size and relationship between interior spaces was dictated by function. Almost a 10,000- square- foot one-story complex will include 15 patient exam rooms, two rooms for behavioral-health services, two health-procedure rooms, conference, and a community room. The community room will be used for seminars and health enrichment programs serving local residents. A centrally located staff bullpen will provide workspace for the medical staff members. Directly adjacent to the building is the covered ambulance bay that will allow for a pick-up and transportation of patients with medical emergencies requiring admission to one of the Tallahassee hospitals.

The building mechanical, electrical and AV systems were closely coordinated with the end user to meet not only the requirements for the medical facility of this type but also the University design guidelines and specific needs of the unique medical program.

The Health Center was designed to create a prominent and approachable public facility that is equipped to serve the needs of the local community bringing essential services to that area.
